Dean had been appalled to hear that she'd never seen the original Star Wars trilogy, and had put the first film on immediately. A large bowl of popcorn sat between them on the sectional, and Mackenzie was making her way well into that second bottle of wine.

She tried, honestly tried, really hard to focus on the movie. But Dean kept playfully catching her fingers whenever she went in for a handful of popcorn and it was driving her insane. She suddenly understood why Lindsay had been such an emotional wreck when she'd dated Tyler Brentwood in high school. All she could think about was kissing Dean. Not to mention that the events of the last few days had left her craving comfort, and his touch didn't just light her on fire, it also made her feel safe.

"Mackenzie, you okay?" He peered over at her in the darkness.

"What? Yeah, I'm fine."

"You're just staring into space. Are you not into the movie?"

"I guess I'm just stressed out from today."

"I know. I'm sorry… can I do something to help?" The sound of his voice when he whispered was intoxicating.

"Hold me?"

His lips lifted just slightly, almost betraying a smile. The popcorn bowl moved to the coffee table and then his arms were around her. He pulled her back against his chest, his chin resting on top of her head. She was happy to be in his arms, but still wishing she was kissing him right now. She knew he wanted to take things ultra-slow, though, for whatever reason, and she didn't want to freak him out any more than she already had.

"I'm sorry about Veronica, and the thing with the fans. You shouldn't have to be dealing with any of this." His hands made his way to the back of her neck, massaging her shoulders firmly. But it was when he bent down to kiss her hair that Mackenzie couldn't keep herself from letting out a shaky breath.

"Dean." She turned over her shoulder to look him in the eyes, her voice barely a whisper.

Thankfully, he didn't need any more coaxing than that. His hands turned her whole body to face him as he crushed his lips with hers. Mackenzie sighed, relieved at his touch, as he ran his hands across her backside. His fingers finally found a resting place at the top of her jeans, probing just underneath the fabric to graze her skin. She pressed her body tightly to his, her hips pressing forward against him. It felt so natural, she was surprised that her body seemed to know what to do with him, even if her mind was still running a mile a minute.

When his tongue made its way into her mouth, gently caressing hers, Mackenzie finally fully understood the concept behind getting wet. The skin between her legs pulsed for him, even though his attention was all on her mouth.

"Wow." She breathed the word out like a tiny prayer.

He pulled back, searching her eyes. "You okay?"

She nodded.

He cleared his throat, but the words that followed still came out hoarsely, "We should probably get back to the movie.
